In their competitive debut Elena and Anton skated well enough to win a bronze medal despite several mistakes. Ranked second after the short program, they ended up finishing third to fellow Russians Oksana Kazakova and Artur Dmitriev, and Americans Jenni Meno and Todd Sand. Their long program included side-by-side triple toe loops and double axels, but Elena two-footed the landing of the double axel. She also two-footed the throw triple salchow and fell on the throw triple loop.
